Choosing a door

Still unsure? Call 09 550 8868 and talk to our Albany team.

Which door suits my home: roller, sectional or Flex‑A‑Door?

A Garador roller door suits openings up to 3.2 m wide with about 400 mm of headroom. A sectional door suits openings from 2.4 m to 6.6 m wide, can be insulated, and has the widest choice of styles and colours. Flex‑A‑Door replaces an old tilt door and needs as little as 80 mm of headroom when operated by hand. We confirm which fits at the free measure.

What sizes do Garador doors come in?

Every Garador door is made to measure. Sectional doors suit openings from 2,400 to 6,600 mm wide and 1,825 to 3,440 mm high; roller doors up to 3,200 mm wide; Flex‑A‑Door from 1,200 to 3,150 mm wide and up to 2,775 mm high.

Can I have windows in my door near the coast?

Garador advises against window insets in coastal environments, because salt air is hard on them. We follow Garador’s coastal guidance on finishes and talk you through the options at the measure.

Can I get an insulated door?

Yes. Six sectional styles come with Garador’s New Zealand-made textile insulation factory-fitted: Newport, Allegra, Camden, Aspen, Sierra and Nevada.

Where are Garador doors made?

In New Zealand, in Auckland or Christchurch, using New Zealand Colorsteel®.

Prices and quotes

How much does a new garage door cost?

Every door is made to measure, so your exact GST-inclusive price for the door, opener and installation comes after the free measure.

Is the measure really free?

Yes, with no obligation. We measure, bring samples, and send one price.

Repairs and servicing

Do you repair doors that aren’t Garador?

Yes. We repair and service Garador doors and openers and most other brands. The service is mobile, so we come to you.

How often should my door be serviced?

Garador asks for a service within the first 12 months, then every two years, by an Authorised Garador Dealer. That keeps the warranty valid.

My door has made a loud bang and won’t lift. What do I do?

That is almost always a broken spring. Stop using the door and the opener, keep clear, and call us on 09 550 8868.

Warranty and care

What warranty comes with a Garador door?

Garador sectional doors carry a 5-year, 10,000-cycle warranty. Garador openers carry a 5- to 7-year warranty depending on the model, with 7 years including the electronics on premium openers. Buy a Garador sectional door and a Genius HD, Genius or Precision opener as a package, register it, and have it serviced on schedule, and Garador’s Reliability Warranty covers the door’s components and labour (excluding springs) for 10 years and the opener for 10 years or 20,000 cycles.

How do I look after the door?

Wash it with clean water and a cloth every 14 days, more often near the sea. Never wash the opener. Check the balance every three to six months, and leave springs and cables to us.

How do I register the warranty?

Garador’s registration form is on garador.co.nz.

Areas and booking

Which areas do you cover?

All of Auckland. We’re based at 30 Tarndale Grove, Albany, so the North Shore and Central Auckland are home ground, and we cover West, East and South Auckland too. The service is mobile, so we come to you.

How long does a new door take?

Most installations take about a day once your made-to-measure door arrives. Lead times vary by style and colour, and we give you a date with your quote.

What are your hours?

Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm.
